Rocky Men’s Soccer Completes Third Consecutive Shutout in 1-0 Victory Over Corban

SALEM, Ore.- The Battlin' Bear defense continues to be a force to be reckoned with in the final stretch of the season, completing their third consecutive shutout and third consecutive win on Friday.

How it Happened

While Rocky scored just once on the afternoon, their offense kept pressure on the Warrior defense for 90 minutes. The Battlin' Bears totaled 20 shot attempts, with nine shots on goal. They added eight corner kick tries, keeping the ball near the Corban goal throughout.

The Battlin' Bears finally found the net in the 78th minute, as a Rory O'Donnell corner kick set up defender Kai Gatrell, just minutes after checking into the match, for his second goal of the season and ultimately the game-winner.

Eleven different Rocky players totaled shot attempts on the afternoon, led by four from Paul Randello. Stefan Schenk anchored the Rocky defense, which allowed just a single shot on goal, which Schenk saved to earn his fourth clean sheet of the season.

The Rocky men enter their final game of the regular season, tied for fourth in the Cascade Conference standings with the College of Idaho with 23 total points. They trail the third-seeded Eastern Oregon Mountaineers by two points and hold the second-longest active winning streak in the conference.

Scoring Summary

78' RMC - Kai Gatrell (Ast. Rory O'Donnell)
