Rocky Women’s Soccer Falls 3-1 to Corban on Friday Afternoon

SALEM, Ore.- Two second-half goals for Corban sealed a road defeat for the Battlin' Bears on Friday. 

How it Happened
Corban was the first and only team to strike in the first half, as Carley Ganchenko snuck past the defense for a goal in the 38th minute. 

The Battlin' Bears had their response early in the second half, as the Warriors were whistled for a handball on a Rocky crossing attempt inside the box, granting the Battlin' Bears a penalty kick opportunity. Georgia Dean was the one to take the opportunity, scoring to tie the match up. Dean is now two-for-two on penalty kicks this season.

Ultimately, the difference in the match became a 40-second stretch where Corban tallied back-to-back goals. The first came from a high arching shot from Maya Alston before Fatima Jimenez fired a strike into the right corner of the goal to put the Warriors up 3-1, holding their lead through the 90th minute. 

 Shot attempts were even in the match on Friday, with each team tallying 13 a piece. Corban put eight of their shots on goal, with Rocky totaling six. Charlize Davis led Rocky with two shots on goal. Hannah Trumbull totaled five saves in the defeat.
