Game Notes

Time for a Run
The Battlin' Bears wrapped up their regular season this past weekend and enter the Frontier Conference Tournament as the sixth seed. A win in the quarterfinal matchup with Montana Western would set up a Friday night matchup with the regular season champions, the University of Providence.

Battle Tested
Regardless of the regular season outcome, the Battlin' Bears have proven successful in the Frontier Conference Tournament, winning at least one tournament game every season since 2006.

Start the Rally Right
The Battlin' Bears have been the top service team in the Frontier Conference this season, totaling 169 service aces. Makenna Bushman is the Frontier Conference leader with 45 total service aces, ten more than any other player in the conference.

Class of her Own
Makenna Bushman finished the regular season second in the Frontier Conference, totaling 379 kills. Her 3.27 kills per set ranked third overall, and she was one of six players in the conference to tally three or more kills per set.

Keep Rallies Alive
In Rocky's five-set loss to Carroll College, the Battlin' Bears totaled 148 digs. Brooke Ark (55) and Makenna Bushman (42) set career highs in digs.

Defensive Excellence
Brooke Ark wrapped up the regular season, ranking third in the NAIA in total digs with 775. Her current total ranks fifth in program history, behind her 2023 season, where she totaled 863 digs and three seasons of 800+ digs from Ayla Embry.

Scouting the Bulldogs
Montana Western enters the Frontier Conference Tournament as the third seed and the No. 19-ranked team in the NAIA. The Bulldogs have won four consecutive matchups against Rocky, a streak the Battlin' Bears will look to end on Friday afternoon.

The Bulldogs have been led by their defense at the net, totaling 2.46 blocks per set as a team this season. Montana Western is led by a pair of middle blockers who rank two and three in the conference in blocks per set during the regular season. Danyel Martin averages 1.16 blocks per set, with Peyton Vogl averaging 1.15. Jazi Smith is another key piece of the puzzle for Western, ranking fourth in the conference in kills per set with 3.23.
