Rocky Women’s Basketball Grinds Out 68-47 Victory Over Multnomah

EUGENE, Ore.- The Battlin' Bears outscored the Lions 44-17 combined in the first and fourth quarters to capture their third consecutive victory.

How it Happened

The Rocky women came out firing to start their matchup against Multnomah, hitting four three-pointers in the first quarter, including two from Paige Wasson, en route to a 22-point stampede in the first ten minutes. Defensively, the Battlin' Bears held Multnomah to just nine points on 3-14 shooting from the field.

Momentum shifted in the second quarter, as the Battlin' Bears turned the ball over nine times, allowing the Lions to cut their deficit.

After Gracee Lekvold opened the second half with a pair of three-pointers, Multnomah seized momentum, putting together a 15-0 run over five minutes that cut their once sizable deficit down to just two points. Paige Wasson helped extinguish the Lions' run, hitting a three-pointer and later putting together a three-point play to give Rocky a seven-point lead going into the fourth quarter.

From then on, it was Sydney Dethman's time to shine. The Fresno State transfer took over the offense in the fourth quarter, scoring ten of her 17 points in the final quarter while shooting 5-6 from the field to help boost the Battlin' Bears over Multnomah for their third consecutive win and third straight victory over a Cascade Collegiate Conference opponent.
