Barnett Earns First Team All-Conference Honors; Browning, Weston, and Barnett Recognized as Honorable Mention

BILLINGS, Mont.- The Frontier Conference announced its 2024 Football Post-Season awards on Monday, which featured three Battlin' Bears receiving recognition. 

Kaysan Barnett, a senior defensive back from Phoenix, Arizona, was named All-Frontier Conference First Team Defense. Barnett was Rocky's second-leading tackler this season, totaling 61 tackles, including 43 solo tackles, the seventh most in the Frontier Conference. He also added six tackles for loss, one interception, and a team-high six pass breakups. Barnett also blocked a kick this season.

Barnett also earned an Honorable Mention nod as a punt returner. As a return man this season, he returned 13 punts for 174 total yards, averaging 13.38 yards per return with a long of 64 yards and two returns of over 50 yards this season. 

In total, this is Barnett's fourth First Team All-Conference honor of his career and his second Honorable Mention nod, as well as earning Second Team All-Frontier Conference in 2022, totaling seven All-Conference honors throughout his decorated Battlin' Bear career. 

Mason Browning, a senior linebacker from Queen Creek, Arizona, earned Honorable Mention recognition. Browning was Rocky's third-leading tackler this season, totaling 53 tackles, including eight for loss and 3.5 sacks, all of which were career highs. Browning also led the Battlin' Bears with two interceptions on the season. 

Browning was also named Rocky's Champion of Character nominee, given to the student-athlete who best exemplifies the NAIA's five core values - integrity, respect, responsibility, sportsmanship, and servant leadership.

Jason Weston, a freshman from Phoenix, Arizona, earned an Honorable Mention nod in his first season with the Battlin' Bears. Taking over the starting punting and kickoff duties in the fourth game of the season, Weston thrived, totaling 32 punts with an average of 38.31 yards per punt. He booted four punts of 50 yards or longer, including a long of 57 yards in his first game against Eastern Oregon, and pinning ten of his punts inside the opponent's 20-yard line with only one touchback.
