Third Quarter Barrage Leads Rocky Women’s Basketball to 73-65 Victory

DICKINSON, N.D.- Sydney Dethman scored twelve of her game-high twenty points in the third quarter to cap a perfect night from the field as Rocky battled for an eight-point victory in Dickinson.

How it Happened

Paige Wasson was electric from downtown in the first quarter, sinking three-pointers on three straight possessions to extend Rocky's early lead to eight in the first quarter.

The Battlin' Bear defense was excellent in the second quarter, holding the Blue Hawks without a made field goal for nearly seven minutes of action. Despite a late run by Dickinson State, Rocky held a six-point lead at the halftime break.

In the third quarter, the Rocky women made their winning run, as the Battlin' Bears tallied 28 points following the halftime break. Sydney Dethman was the key contributor in the quarter, as she rattled off ten straight points for Rocky during the quarter, helping extend the lead to as large as 22 points.

While Dickinson State got hot from the field in the fourth quarter, hitting four threes and shooting over 50% from the field, the Battlin' Bears were able to withstand the run thanks to their sizeable lead to secure their 13th straight win over the Blue Hawks.
