How it Happened

With the first quarter going back-and-forth to begin, a made three-pointer from Gracee Lekvold capped off a 9-3 run that saw the Battlin' Bears jump to a 14-10 lead with three minutes to go in the quarter. After the Mountaineers bounced back to take a short lead, Brenna Linse wrapped up the first quarter with an and-one layup, completing the three-point play to give Rocky a four-point lead going into the second quarter.

Isabelle Heggem would knock in a pair of layups to lead the Battlin' Bears on a 6-0 run midway through the second quarter, extending their lead to ten points. Eastern Oregon had their response, following Rocky's run with an 8-0 lead of their own inside the final minute of the half. Paige Wasson halted the run with a three-pointer to conclude the halftime with the Battlin' Bears leading 32-27.

The Mountaineers came out of the halftime break firing, rallying for an 8-2 run to grab a one-point lead with seven minutes to go in the third quarter. Rocky had the response on both ends, combining for a 17-7 run for the remainder of the quarter, shooting 5-9 from the field and holding the Mountaineers to just 3-10 shooting to take a nine-point lead into the fourth quarter.
