#21 Rocky Women’s Basketball Uses Dominant First Half to Cruise to Their Second Straight Victory

CALDWELL, Idaho.- The Battlin' Bears never trailed in Caldwell on Saturday evening, defeating the College of Idaho 65-51.

How it Happened

The Battlin' Bears set the tone early. Iliana Moran secured a three-point play on the opening possession, sparking a 9-1 run over the first two minutes of the game. While the College of Idaho finally got a field goal to go, the Battlin' Bears continued on with a commanding 22-4 lead into the final minute of the quarter. The defensive effort was evident for the Rocky women, holding College of Idaho to just 2-12 shooting and five turnovers early.

Rocky continued to hound the Yotes throughout the second quarter, as a jumper from Iliana Moran extended the Battlin' Bear lead to 19 with three minutes to go in the half. College of Idaho would find some momentum to close the half, but Rocky still held a commanding 36-18 lead at the half.

The Yotes were able to win the third and fourth quarters, but only by a narrow margin, as both teams shot 50% from the field in the third quarter. The Yotes defense intensified in the fourth quarter, forcing five Battlin' Bear turnovers. Still, it was too little too late, as they could not chip away at Rocky's lead, securing the second consecutive win for the Battlin' Bears.
