Rocky Women’s Basketball Drops Rimrock Rivalry Exhibition 77-49

BILLINGS, Mont.- A scoring drought prevented Rocky from keeping pace with a hot-shooting Yellowjackets squad as Rocky fell in an exhibition match in Alterowitz Gym.

How it Happened

In her first start of the season, Brenna Linse was the force driving the Battlin' Bear offense, totaling eight first-quarter points. The Rocky women finished the first quarter on an 8-2 run to grab a 20-16 lead on the road going into the second quarter.

The second quarter became the stretch that ultimately decided the game. The Yellowjackets erupted from three-point range, hitting seven three-pointers and making nine of their first 12 three-point attempts in the contest, jumping out to a double-digit lead.

While Rocky held MSUB at bay for large stretches of the second half, the first-half deficit was too much to overcome. The Battlin' Bears took advantage of the exhibition contest, giving the youth valuable experience as they continued their non-conference schedule.

Notable Statistics

Paige Wasson led the Battlin' Bears with 17 points on the evening. Brenna Linse added 11 points and nine rebounds, while Isabelle Heggem totaled three blocks.

The Battlin' Bears struggled from three-point range, shooting just five-of-20 from deep.

Aspen Giese was the game's leading scorer, finishing the night with 23 points and seven made three-pointers.

Up Next

Rocky Women's Basketball (6-3) will travel to Arizona to wrap up their non-conference schedule over the next two weeks with four games against NAIA opponents. Three of those opponents qualified for the NAIA National Tournament a season ago.
