Last Time Out

The Battlin' Bears grabbed two more victories in the Sam Milanovich Classic over Thanksgiving weekend, defeating Dickinson State and Valley City State. In Rocky's 86-79 win over Dickinson State, five Battlin' Bears scored in double-figures, and three grabbed double-digit rebounds, led by a 21-point, 11-rebound performance from Jaylon Lee. Rebounding was crucial for Rocky, grabbing 16 offensive rebounds and outrebounding the Blue Hawks 51-39.

In the Battlin' Bears' 79-72 victory over Valley City State, Rocky again leaned on rebounding and defense to secure a win, outrebounding the Vikings 43-22, recording a season-high rebounding differential of 21 boards. Jaylon Lee again impressed, scoring 19 points with 15 rebounds, along with three blocks. Royce Robinson and Carter McCoy also added double-digit points, scoring 18 and 11, respectively.

Rocky's two victories marked the fourth and fifth straight, including their exhibition win over MSU Billings. The Battlin' Bears' lone defeat this season came over a month ago to the current No. 1-ranked Arizona Christian Firestorm.

Game Notes

Home Sweet Home
The Battlin' Bears return to the Fortin Education Center for the first time since November 2nd to take on MSU Billings in a Rimrock Rivalry matchup. Rocky will look for a season sweep over their cross-town rivals after winning the first matchup in Alterowitz Gym 89-81.

Crashing the Glass
The Battlin' Bears have been one of the top rebounding groups in the NAIA this season, ranking third in the nation in rebounding margin (+15.5), 9th in defensive rebounds per game (30.3), and 16th in offensive rebounds per game (14.3). Like all good teams, it's been a group effort for the Battlin' Bears, with four qualified Battlin' Bears averaging five or more rebounds per game.

Player of the Week
Junior forward Jaylon Lee swept the Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week honors last week, averaging 20 points, 13 rebounds, and two blocks per game in Dickinson.

Scouting the Yellowjackets
MSU Billings is off to a strong start on the season, winning each of their past four games since the loss to Rocky, including their conference opener against Seattle Pacific this past Saturday, 88-83 in overtime. The Yellowjackets have leaned on defense and three-point shooting so far this season, holding their opponents to just 69.3 points per game on defense while totaling 9.1 made threes per game.
