Rocky Women’s Ski Sweeps Podium to Earn Western Regional Giant Slalom Victory

RED LODGE, Mont.- Hilde Iren Sato defended her crown in the giant slalom as Rocky Ski swept the podium to earn first place on day one of the USCSA Western Region Championship. 

Nearly 100 competitors toed the starting line Thursday morning from 18 different teams at Red Lodge Mountain. 

Hilde Iren Sato led the way individually, tallying the fastest run of the day with a 47.61-second run to start the day, finishing with the top combined time of 1:37.54. Bergitte Varne followed in second place with a combined time of 1:37.70 and Synne Kvinlog finished third overall with a combined time of 1:38.40. Sofia Brustia also added a top-10 finish, placing sixth with a total time of 1:39.80. Reese Harman finished 24th overall and Morgan Hayes finished 31st overall to round out the Battlin' Bear competitors. 

The Battlin' Bears finished first overall with a team time of 4:53.64. University of Colorado Boulder followed in second place with a team time of 5:00.43. 

The Men's Giant Slalom begins Friday morning. The first run will begin at 10:00 am, with the second run starting at 1:00 pm.
