Rocky Women’s Soccer Drops Rimrock Rivalry Exhibition 2-1

BILLINGS, Mont.- Despite a clean second half, the Battlin' Bears could not overcome an early deficit, falling to their cross-town rivals MSU Billings 2-1 on Wednesday. 

How it Happened
The Yellowjackets were the first to strike in the 25th minute after a free kick from just outside the box found the top right corner of the goal to hand Rocky an early 1-0 deficit. MSUB found an insurance goal just before the end of the first half, this time finding the top left corner of the goal following a throw-in as the Battlin' Bears trailed 2-0 at the half. 

Rocky got on the board in the second half to trim their deficit to one. Freshman Georgia Dean found Emma Lensing racing past her defender, leading Lensing to a score at the 60-minute mark. The Rocky offense could not find many more opportunities for the final thirty minutes, ultimately falling 2-1 in the exhibition match. 

The Battlin' Bears took advantage of the exhibition, rotating in three different goalkeepers and 17 different players on the field, gaining valuable experience early in the season. 

The Yellowjackets controlled the possessions throughout, outshooting Rocky 29-7 on the evening. 

Emma Lensing, Morgan Maack, and Georgia Dean all tallied two shots a piece in the loss.

The Rocky women will play three road games in Georgia next week, beginning with (RV) Georgia Gwinnett College on Friday, August 30th.
