PREVIEW: Rocky Women’s Soccer Concludes Non-Conference Schedule in Georgia

8/30/2024 3:21:00 PM

BILLINGS, Mont.- Rocky Women's Soccer will face three unfamiliar opponents this weekend to wrap up its non-conference schedule in Georgia.

Game Notes

Wrapping Up Preseason
Rocky's trip to Georgia will conclude their 2024 non-conference schedule. In Georgia, the Battlin' Bears will play three teams they have never faced in the program's history.

Starting Strong
In Rocky's only game of record this season, the Battlin' Bears got in the win column with a 2-0 victory over Doane University. This marks the third of the past four seasons where the Rocky women have won their season opener.

Strength in Numbers
The Battlin' Bears will lean into their returning core in 2024, as 11 of the 14 players who played in the victory against Doane were on the roster a season ago.

Defensive Effort
Goalkeeper Hannah Trumbull made her first start in goal in 2024 after starting seven of the 14 games in 2023. The senior pitched a shutout against Doane University, saving all five shots she faced in the winning effort. The Battlin' Bears held Doane to ten shots, with only five on goal.

Dial Up the Pressure
Rocky totaled 16 shots in the win over Doane on August 15th. They totaled just three games in 2023 with more total shots. Nine of their 16 shots were on goal, a mark they only surpassed three times a season ago.

Meeting the Grizzlies
The Battlin' Bears will begin their weekend against the Georgia Gwinnett Grizzlies, who received votes in the most recent NAIA Women's Soccer Top 25 poll. The Grizzlies have had an eye-opening 3-0 start in which they've outscored their opponents a combined 23-1.

Meeting the Eagles
On Sunday, Rocky will take on Reinhardt University, which is looking for its first win of the season after a 0-2 start. However, their slow start should not obscure that they finished the 2023 season with a 13-6-1 record and advanced to the AAC Semi-Finals.

Meeting the Knights
Rocky's weekend will conclude with a matchup with Middle Georgia State. The Knights will play their first match on Friday against No. 16-ranked SCAD-Savannah. A season ago, Middle Georgia State finished with a 4-11-3 record, losing in the first round of the SSAC Tournament.
