Rocky Women’s Soccer Cruises to 4-1 Victory Over Middle Georgia State

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga.- The Battlin' Bears piled on a season-high four goals to wrap up their non-conference schedule with a win over Middle Georgia State. 

How it Happened
A corner kick by Tara Appleby set Rocky up for their first score in the 13th minute, finding Mila Allison, who connected on the pass to give Rocky a 1-0 lead. The Battlin' Bears outshot the Knights 8-1 in the first half and garnered five corner kick opportunities in the first 45 minutes. 

Holding onto their early lead, excellent team play garnered Rocky an insurance goal in the 72nd minute. Charlize Davis poked the ball away from a Middle Georgia attacker, placing it at the feet of teammate Georgia Dean. Dean made a quick read to find Morgan Maack, who sent a perfect pass down the middle of the field to Emma Lensing, who juked out the goalkeeper for a wide-open goal. 

Morgan Maack scored a goal of her own just three minutes later, taking a shot from deep outside the box following a takeaway and floating the ball over the goalie to give Rocky a larger lead of 3-0. Georgia State got themselves on the board late, but Emma Lensing matched their score just two minutes later with a breakaway goal to bring the final score to 4-1. 

In total, Rocky outshot Middle Georgia State 14-8, putting seven of their shots on goal compared to the Knight's three. 

Emma Lensing and Mila Allison had four shots each in the win. Morgan Maack added two.

The Battlin' Bears (2-1-0) will begin Cascade Conference play on September 20th with a road trip to Helena to take on (RV) Carroll College.
