Rocky Women’s Soccer Cruises Past Eastern Oregon 5-1

BILLINGS, Mont.- Rocky Women's Soccer handed Eastern Oregon just their second conference loss after four second-half goals propelled the Battlin' Bears to victory.

Five different Battlin' Bears scored goals in the match, the most goals they've scored in a single game this season.

How it Happened

Rocky took the first lead of the contest, as Georgia Dean sent a deep pass into the box, finding Charlize Davis, who caught the Mountaineers' goalie off balance and fired in her third goal of the season in the 25th minute.

Eastern Oregon knotted the match just five minutes later, as they controlled the rebound, made the extra pass, and Carly Imes finished the job, holding the game to a 1-1 draw at halftime.

The Battlin' Bears controlled the second half from start to finish, outshooting Eastern Oregon 7-2 and scoring on four of their seven shots. After the Mountaineers were unable to control a free kick, Charlize Davis leaped at the opportunity, driving into the box before dishing off to Grace Curnow for a chip-in goal in the 54th minute.

Olivia Goddard threaded a pass downfield for Emma Lensing in the 68th minute, as Lensing shook a defender and drilled a sharp shot that deflected off the hands of the Eastern Oregon goalkeeper and rolled into the net to extend the lead to 3-1.

When a Matea Vernon goal kick traveled the length of the field untouched, Emma Lensing raced for the opportunity, ultimately getting fouled inside the box to provide Georgia Dean with a penalty kick opportunity. Dean converted the opportunity, sneaking her shot into the left corner of the net in the 75th minute.

Darby McMahill recorded her first collegiate goal in the 86th minute to put the cherry on top of a breakout day for the Battlin' Bears, as Mia Daskalovska chased down a Battlin' Bear throw in, crossing the ball to Olivia Goddard, who made the unselfish pass to a wide open McMahill who chipped in Rocky's fifth goal of the day, sealing a 5-1 victory.

The Rocky women outshot Eastern Oregon 14-11, putting eight of their shots on goal compared to the Mountaineers' four. Emma Lensing and Charlize Davis combined for nine shot attempts on the afternoon.

Matea Vernon saved three of the four shots she faced on the afternoon.
