Rocky Men’s Soccer Shutout Argos in 2-0 Road Victory

GREAT FALLS, Mont.- Rocky Men's Soccer remains undefeated on the road this season, defeating the University of Providence 2-0 on Saturday afternoon.

The Battlin' Bears tallied a goal in both the first and second halves, while limiting the Argos to just six total shots and three shots on goal in a commanding victory.

How It Happened

While the match stayed scoreless through the first 44 minutes, the Battlin' Bears dominated possession, limiting the University of Providence to just one shot in the first half. A corner kick from Rory O'Donnell passed through the Argo defense, finding the foot of David Russell, who powered a shot into the net for the eventual game-winner with just 40 seconds left to go in the first half.

With six minutes remaining in the match, Paul Katende alertly cleared an Argo corner kick, beginning a counterattack for the Battlin' Bears. Katende dropped the ball off to Fynn Sweeting, who found the feet of a streaking Luke Tooze, who made the lone Argo defender in front of him miss and fired an insurance goal into the net, eventually leading to Rocky's 2-0 victory in Great Falls.

The Battlin' Bears outshot the Argos 17-6 overall in the match. Rocky's control of possession was shown in an eye-popping 13 corner kicks on the afternoon.

In his second start this season, Biruk Paulos-Negatu turned in a shutout, the first of his career, after saving all three shots he faced.
