Rocky Men’s Soccer Defeats (RV) Southern Oregon 1-0 on Thursday

BILLINGS, Mont.- The Rocky men took down first-place and previously undefeated Southern Oregon 1-0 on Herb Klindt Field on Thursday evening.

The win marks the first for the Rocky men over Southern Oregon since October 6, 2019, which featured now-Head Coach Milo Downey starting in the midfield and wearing jersey number six.

How It Happened

Neither team mustered much on the offensive end to start, with teams trading back and forth and combining for only four shots and one shot on frame through the first 45 minutes of play.

Rocky tallied the only goal of the contest, where Ralph Jooma Jr. set up teammate Lorenzo Klamler, who fired the game-winning goal off the side of a Raider defender and into the net in the 53rd minute. The goal marked his sixth of the season, tied for the team lead through seven games.

The second half was all Battlin' Bears on their home field, dominating the box score overall. Through the final 45 minutes, Rocky outshot Southern Oregon 13-5, put six shots on goal compared to five, and had five corner kicks to one.

Overall, Rocky outshot Southern Oregon 16-6, including seven shots on frame compared to three.

Anton Wilms saved all three shots he faced, including a pair of acrobatic saves in the second half, to preserve his second shutout of the season.

Fynn Sweeting tallied a game-high five shots, three of which were on goal.
