Rocky Men’s Soccer Draws With Oregon Tech 3-3

BILLINGS, Mont.- The Rocky men scored twice in the second half, but an 86th-minute goal from the Owls brought the match to a draw on Saturday afternoon. 

How It Happened
David Russell got Rocky on the board in the 22nd minute, as Luke Tooze sent a 40-yard pass downfield, finding Russell, who snuck behind the defense and finished off the goal, his seventh of the season. 

The Owls tallied a pair of goals late in the first half, as Reece Fletcher headed a short shot in for a goal, then Oregon Tech's Cash Cota cashed in a last-second penalty kick opportunity to close out the half and hand Rocky a one-goal deficit. 

Fynn Sweeting brought the match back to a 2-2 tie in the 55th minute, after receiving a crossing pass from David Russell. The freshman fired a shot from a difficult angle and just tucked the ball inside the post to tally his third goal of the season.

In the 74th minute, Paul Katende scored from his defender position to give Rocky the lead back. After a corner kick from Henry Chalkley was cleared, the Battlin' Bears retained possession, and Chalkley sent another ball into the box, where Katende positioned himself well and secured the goal, putting the Battlin' Bears in the lead with 16 minutes to play. 

Oregon Tech would come in clutch at the end of the half again, as Sammy Villalta fired a shot that Anton Wilms saved, but Anthony Aguiar was in the right place at the right time to fire in a shot off the deflection to draw the match 3-3, which would hold for the final three and a half minutes of play. 

Rocky outshot Oregon Tech 15-12, including 10-7 on shots on frame. Both teams attempted three corners on the afternoon.
