Rocky Men’s Soccer Draws 2-2 Against Warner Pacific; Clinches CCC Tournament Berth

BILLINGS, Mont.- Rocky Men's Soccer officially clinched their spot in this year's CCC Tournament after battling to a 2-2 tie against Warner Pacific. 

Lorenzo Klamler scored a goal on his senior day, while David Russell added a PK, to lead Rocky's offensive attack. 

How It Happened

The Knights wasted no time, as Brian Canela broke away from the defense in the second minute of the match to fire a shot into the net, giving Warner Pacific a 1-0 lead. 

The Battlin' Bears earned their opportunity for an equalizer after David Russell was fouled attempting a header and was granted a penalty kick. The freshman used a stutter step before firing his attempt into the top right corner of the goal, tying the match at 1-1 in the 31st minute. 

Just seconds before halftime, Lorenzo Klamler, as Cody Bennett and Luke Tooze led the way for the senior Klamler, who made one quick move before striking his shot high and into the net, giving Rocky a 2-1 lead before halftime. 

Warner Pacific had the lone goal in the second half, as the Knights earned a penalty kick opportunity, which they converted in the 74th minute to bring the match to a 2-2 draw. 

Rocky had opportunities in the second half, particularly late, including a pair of shot opportunities in the 83rd minute that were saved by Knight defenders covering the goal. 

Overall, the Battlin' Bears outshot the Knights 18-12, but shots on goal only favored Rocky six to four.
