Rocky Women’s Soccer Continues Scorching Pace With a 7-0 Victory Over Corban University

SALEM, Ore.- Rocky Women's Soccer earned their fifth consecutive victory with another lopsided 7-0 win against Corban on Friday evening. 

Emma Lensing and Morgan Hayes each tallied two goals apiece. Lensing gained the individual lead in the CCC with 16 goals on the season after tonight's match. During Rocky's five-game win streak, the Battlin' Bears have outscored their opponents 28-2, winning all five games by four or more goals. 

How it Happened

Rocky kicked off the scoring in the 12th minute, as Gracie Clarkson corralled a Corban goal kick, before finding the feet of Georgia Dean, who fired a long shot over the head of the goalkeeper for the first goal of the evening. The Battlin' Bears added two more goals in the final five minutes of the half, as Charlize Davis utilized a spin move to get open in the box before sneaking a shot past the Corban keeper. Morgan Hayes found the net in the final ten seconds of the half after Charlize Davis drew in the defense, giving the Battlin' Bears a 3-0 lead at halftime. 

Emma Lensing tallied a pair of Rocky's four-second-half goals, with goals coming in the 68th and 80th minutes. Mya Maack added a goal in the 77th minute on her own corner kick, leading Rocky to another dominant victory, and Morgan Hayes secured a brace on the evening with a 53rd-minute goal. 

The Battlin' Bears outshot Corban 23-9 overall in the win, including an advantage on shots on goal, 11-6. Rocky controlled possession all evening, totaling nine corner kicks. Matea Vernon saved all six shots she faced, turning in her seventh clean sheet of the season.
