Rocky Women’s Soccer Earns Shutout 1-0 Victory Over Oregon Tech

BILLINGS, Mont.- Rocky Women's Soccer braved the elements on Saturday morning, as Charlize Davis scored the game-winner in the second half to lead Rocky to a 1-0 win.

The shutout marks the fourth of the season for the Battlin' Bears and freshman goalkeeper Matea Vernon. The Battlin' Bear backline has proved to be formidable, as four of their five wins have been by way of the shutout, and their nine goals allowed tie for second-best in the CCC this season.

How it Happened

Neither team found much success offensively throughout the first half, combining for just three shots on frame, with all three being saved. The Owls were limited to ten players late in the first half, following a red card ejection in the 44th minute.

The Battlin' Bears were able to take advantage in the second half, totaling nine shots to Oregon Tech's one in the second half alone, but it took until the 75th minute for Rocky to find the net, thanks to Charlize Davis firing her second goal of the season to give the Battlin' Bears a 1-0 victory.

In total, the Battlin' Bears outshot Oregon Tech 13-4 in the winning effort, as Rocky earned their third win in conference play, moving them up to fifth place in the CCC standings. Matea Vernon saved all three shots she faced in the win.
