Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

#15 Rocky Women’s Basketball Stumbles Against #10 Lewis-Clark State 71-61

HELENA, Mont.- Rocky Women's Basketball finishes 1-1 in the Thanksgiving Classic in Helena following a ten-point loss to the tenth-ranked Warriors.

The loss saw Rocky total season lows in points scored (61), field goal percentage (35%), and three-point percentage (30%).

How It Happened

Despite three early turnovers for Rocky, the Battlin' Bears hit on five of their first seven shots from the field to open the game to take a slim 13-11 lead with under five minutes to go in the first quarter. Offense went ice cold for Rocky to close out the quarter, allowing the Warriors to finish the quarter on a 9-3 run to snag a four-point advantage going into the second quarter.

Turnovers continued to hinder the Battlin' Bears in the second quarter, as empty possessions fed a hot-shooting LC State squad that shot over 50% from the field in the second quarter, extending a lead as large as 16 before halftime.

Rocky's offense found success in the third quarter, snagging six offensive rebounds to extend their possessions and ended the quarter shooting 50% from the field, finishing the quarter on a 9-3 run to help limit the damage heading into the final quarter.

After the Warriors extended their lead to open the quarter, the Battlin' Bears would rattle off a 7-0 run to trim their deficit to single digits with four minutes to play. While Rocky's defense was stellar in the fourth quarter, holding LC State without a field goal and just one point scored in the final 6:29 of the contest, their offensive momentum was unable to sustain, ultimately falling by ten points in their second consecutive game against a top-25 opponent, 71-61.

Paige Wasson also finished in double-figures, totaling 13 points, eight rebounds, and five assists, playing all 40 minutes.
