Career Highs From Heggem and Linse Lead #15 Rocky Women’s Basketball Over Dickinson State 67-57

BILLINGS, Mont.- Rocky Women's Basketball secured a season sweep over Dickinson State after career nights from Isabelle Heggem and Brenna Linse

Dating back to 2017, the Battlin' Bears have won 15 of the past 16 contests over the Blue Hawks. Despite a season-low percentage from three-point range, Rocky bowed up on defense in the final five minutes of the game to earn a hard-fought victory at home.

How It Happened

Isabelle Heggem got the Battlin' Bears going offensively, scoring the first eight points of the game for Rocky to start an 8-2 lead early in the first quarter. Dickinson State responded with a 7-2 run before scoring came to a halt for the final five minutes of the first quarter, leaving the Battlin' Bears with a 13-9 lead.

Heggem continued to pace the Battlin' Bear offense, as her six points in the first five minutes of the second quarter gave her 17 of Rocky's 19 points early on, as the Battlin' Bears held a slim 19-17 lead. Both teams improved offensively in the second quarter, as each shot over 46% from the field, leading to a narrow 27-26 Rocky lead at halftime.

After Paige Wasson knocked down a three-pointer early in the third quarter to spark an early run, the Blue Hawks would tie the contest at 35-35. Rocky's offense would get hot, converting baskets on four consecutive possessions to compile a 9-2 run and a seven-point advantage with two minutes remaining in the quarter. Dickinson State would drop a pair of layups in the final 90 seconds to cut their deficit down to five going into the fourth quarter.

After Dickinson State would begin the quarter with a run to tie the contest at 52-52, the Battlin' Bear defense would round out the game strong, allowing just four points throughout the final six minutes of the game, including a stretch of four minutes with no Dickinson State points. Paige Wasson would help seal the win with six points in the final three minutes to lead a 12-1 run in the final 4:30 of the contest to lead the Battlin' Bears to a ten-point victory at home.
