CHANDLER, Ariz.- The Battlin' Bears earned their second consecutive victory in Arizona, besting OUAZ 74-69 on Friday afternoon.

The Rocky men outscored the Spirit 22-7 over the first ten minutes of the second half to extend a double-digit lead, as they held off a late run to defeat OUAZ by five points.

How It Happened

Ottawa took the first swing of momentum in the contest, extending a lead as large as 12 points through the first 12 minutes. Sherman Royal III would help spark the Battlin' Bears back into the game, contributing seven consecutive points amidst an 11-0 run for Rocky to cut the deficit back down to one. Omari Nesbit sank back-to-back jumpers to end the half, giving Rocky a one-point halftime lead, as the Battlin' Bears held OUAZ scoreless in the final three minutes and to just two points total in the final seven minutes of the first half.

The Battlin' Bear momentum continued into the second half, leaping to an 18-5 run over the opening eight minutes of the second half to extend a double-digit advantage. While back-and-forth action would follow, Rocky would hold their double-digit lead heading into the final minutes of play, as a pair of Kyle Jones free throws with 90 seconds remaining gave the Battlin' Bears a 10-point lead. While OUAZ would hit three three-pointers in a last-ditch effort, Kyle Jones and Omari Nesbit would combine to shoot five-of-six from the free throw line to secure Rocky's third straight win.
