Last Time Out

The Battlin' Bears suffered a pair of setbacks at home last weekend with losses to MSU-Northern and Carroll College.

Without one of the NAIA's top rim protectors and rebounders on the court, the Rocky defense allowed 80 or more points in both games, just the sixth and seventh time they've done so this season.

Omari Nesbit continued to be a consistent force on the offensive side of the ball, averaging 17.0 points per game over the pair of games last weekend. Despite the defeats, the Battlin' Bears took care of the ball, limiting their turnovers to below their season average, doing so in each of their past five games.

Road Warriors
The Battlin' Bears get back on the road to take on Montana Western and Providence in a weekend with a significant impact on the conference standings. In away games and neutral site games this season, the Rocky men are a combined 9-2 overall.

Consistency
In a stretch of the Rocky men facing an offensive slump, Omari Nesbit has remained solid in the scoring column, tallying double-digit points in eight of the nine conference matchups this season. Nesbit ranks fourth in the Frontier Conference in points per game in conference play with 15.0 points per game while shooting over 50% from the field, an impressive feat from a 6-1 guard who relies on his outside game.

The Rocky men continue to be an excellent rebounding unit, leading the Frontier Conference with a +4.0 rebounding margin during conference play. The Battlin' Bears have outrebounded their opponents in 20 of their 22 games this season.

Scouting the Bulldogs
Montana Western has gone 2-2 in their second rotation of the conference schedule since their defeat to Rocky in Billings on January 18th. Three of their four losses games were decided by less than ten points, including a heartbreaking loss at the buzzer against #9 Montana Tech last Saturday. Jalyn Stepney and Kyle Gruhler have been among the top scorers in the Frontier Conference this season, both ranking in the top five overall, with Stepney scoring 15.7 points per game and Gruhler following with 14.9 points per game.

Scouting the Argos
Providence has risen to second place in the Frontier Conference standings after being winners in three of their past four games entering Thursday.
