Rocky Track and Field Qualifies Six Individuals and One Relay Team for the NAIA Outdoor Track and Field National Championships Next Week

BILLINGS, Mont.- Six individuals and one relay team will represent the Battlin' Bears at the NAIA Outdoor T/F Championships, which will begin next Wednesday in Marion, Indiana.  

Rocky Track and Field recently wrapped up its regular season, earning a pair of qualifying standards at last chance meets over the weekend and a third-place finish in the Frontier Conference Championships in Helena. 

Indiana Wesleyan University, the host site for the third consecutive season, will host the 2025 NAIA Outdoor Track and Field National Championships. The NAIA announced the final entries for this year's meet on Wednesday. 

Below are the Rocky Track and Field entries for this year's championship event, listed alphabetically, including their path to qualification and scheduled events for next week. 

Trystin Chapel | Freshman | Billings, Montana | Long Jump

Freshman Trystin Chapel holds the eighth-best long jump mark in the NAIA this season after leaping a mark of 7.47 meters (24 feet, 6.25 inches) at the Yellowjacket/Battlin' Bears Icebreaker Open to open the season. That mark broke the previous long jump program record at Rocky Mountain College by nearly three feet. 

This is the hometown product's first qualification in his freshman season. He is scheduled to compete on Thursday, May 22nd, beginning at 12:30 p.m. (MT). 

Charlize Davis | Sophomore | Billings, Montana | Heptathlon

Sophomore Charlize Davis broke the program record in the Heptathlon this past weekend at the Franson Last Chance Meet in California, totaling 4,361 points. Her total ranks her 15th in the NAIA, which earned her a spot in this year's NAIA National Championships. She has also become the first Battlin' Bear to qualify in the Multi-events. This is the third career qualifying mark for the dual sport standout, the first of her career in the multis, and the first in outdoors. 

Davis will begin competition on Wednesday, May 21st, and wrap up on Thursday, May 22nd. 

Jay Jetmore | Senior | Red Lodge, Montana | Pole Vault

Senior Jay Jetmore leaped the 10th-best mark in the NAIA this season in the Pole Vault, clearing 4.90 meters (16 feet, 0.75 inches) at the Providence Open. This marks the fourth qualification of his career for the national championships and the second in outdoors. 

The 2024-25 indoor All-American in the pole vault is scheduled to begin competition on Friday, May 23rd at 11:00 am (MT). 

Maya Pearcy | Sophomore | Columbus, Wisconsin | 800-meters 

Sophomore Maya Pearcy ran the sixth-fastest 800-meter time in the NAIA this season this past weekend at the Tom Gage Classic to earn her first individual qualification of her career after competing in both the DMR and 4x800-meter relay in her career thus far. 

The 800-meter prelims will take place on Thursday, May 22nd at 12:30 pm (MT). 

Grace Timm | Senior | Laurel, Montana | 3,000-meter Steeplechase

Senior Grace Timm ran a personal-best and program record in the 3k Steeplechase of 11:09.64 at the DSU Blue Hawk Games, ranking 10th in the NAIA this season. The mark earned her the second individual qualification of her Battlin' Bear track and field career, and it will be the first outdoor track and field championship trip for her in a Rocky uniform.

The 3,000-meter steeplechase prelims will take place on Wednesday, May 21st at 5:25 pm (MT). 

Kallyn Wilkins | Junior | Condon, Oregon | 1,500-meters

Junior Kallyn Wilkins earned her way into the women's 1,500-meter after running an altitude-adjusted time of 4:42.04 at the Al Manuel Invitational. Her time ranks 15th amongst entered competitors, as she will compete for the first time individually at the national championships in her career, after competing in three different relay teams. 

She will run the preliminary race on Wednesday, May 21st at 1:50 pm (MT). 

Women's 4x800-Meter Relay Team

The Battlin' Bear 4x800 meter relay team of Grace Timm, Maya Pearcy, Kallyn Wilkins, and Tyne Stokes totaled the ninth-best time in the NAIA this season at the Yellowjackets Open, crossing the line in 9:14.79, a new program record. Timm, Pearcy, and Wilkins competed in last year's 4x800 meter relay at the NAIA Outdoor T/F National Championships, placing 13th with a time of 9:18.72. 

They will run the preliminary race on Wednesday, May 21st at 4:15 pm (MT).
