Game Notes
2025 Season is Underway
The 2025 season kicks off for the Battlin' Bears in Sioux City, Iowa, with just four non-conference matchups before Frontier Conference play begins on September 3rd. Rocky Volleyball faces one of the most demanding schedules in all of the NAIA this season and is ready to embrace the challenges ahead. Of their 26 matches against NAIA opponents this season, 18 of their contests are against teams that were ranked in the Top 25 in the NAIA Preseason Poll or received votes. The Frontier Conference has already built a reputation as one of the strongest Volleyball conferences in the NAIA. The addition of new programs has further enhanced this reputation, as seven of the 12 programs in the Frontier Conference ranked within the NAIA Preseason Top 25 or received votes, including five teams that qualified for the 2024 NAIA National Tournament.Â
New Season, New Faces
Rocky Volleyball returns just four players who started 10 or more games a season ago (Ella Kincaid, Lindsay Lawrence, Gabriella Panzetta, Kaitlyn Wood) and six total players (Zoey Albert, Lauren Rodacker), who appeared in a varsity contest in 2024. They'll lean on these returners, along with three transfers who include Sadie Meier (Northwest CC), Meredith Marsh (Whatcom CC), and Josie West (Lake Erie College), under Head Coach Aubrey Beaumont, entering her second year at the helm.
Scouting the Siouxland Tournament
The Battlin' Bears will take on stout competition in their opening weekend, including two top-15 Preseason programs in Oklahoma Wesleyan and McPherson College. These two, along with Morningside University, qualified for the 2024 NAIA National Tournament. This is also the opening weekend for these programs, excluding Dakota Wesleyan, who enters the weekend 1-1 after taking on a pair of Frontier Conference programs in the opening weekend, defeating Valley City State in three sets and falling to Dickinson State in four sets.Â
