Season-High 92 Points Leads #17 Rocky Women’s Basketball to Lopsided Home Victory

BILLINGS, Mont.- The Battlin' Bears secured a weekend sweep at home with a dominant 92-50 victory over Mayville State. 

Rocky's offense was humming on Saturday evening, totaling 26 assists on 35 made field goals, as 11 different Battlin' Bears recorded points in the 42-point victory. 

How It Happened

The Battlin' Bears jumped out to a hot start, as an and-one from Brenna Linse scored her seventh point amid a 12-4 run over the first five minutes of the contest. Paige Wasson sank a three-pointer before the buzzer to grow Rocky's lead to 24-12. 

Wasson continued her torrid pace to open the quarter, as Rocky converted on seven-of-11 from the field over the first four minutes of the second quarter en route to a 17-2 run, with Paige Wasson responsible for 11 of those points. Wasson recorded a game-high 19 points in the first half to lead Rocky to a 48-26 lead at half. 

With the Battlin' Bear bench rotating in throughout the second half, the offensive pace didn't slow, as 44 second-half points helped push Rocky to their ninth conference victory of the season, their eighth straight home victory this season, and their tenth straight win on their home floor dating back to last season. 

Notable Statistics

Paige Wasson finished with a game-high 24 points and ten rebounds, notching her seventh double-double of the season. Brenna Linse and Angelina Cavanaugh each recorded 12 points, while Tailyn Black recorded career highs in rebounds (9) and tied her career-high in assists (8). 

The Battlin' Bears shot 48.6% from the field and 38.2% from three, draining 13 three-pointers, tying their season-high. Rocky outrebounded Mayville State 56-34, including snagging 17 offensive rebounds, while recording 38 points in the paint and piling on 38 points from the bench. 

Whitney Welk recorded a team-high 12 points for Mayville State.
