#23 Rocky Women’s Basketball Remains Perfect at Home; Knocks off #13 Montana Tech 64-50

BILLINGS, Mont.- Rocky Women's Basketball turned in another strong defensive effort at home, improving to 10-0 in the Fortin Education Center following a 64-50 win over No. 13-ranked Montana Tech.

The Rocky defense held the Orediggers to just 21.2% shooting from the field and 21.9% from three, forcing 14 turnovers en route to a commanding home victory.

How It Happened

Both teams traded baskets to open the contest, as a Brenna Linse layup at the 4:47 mark tied the game at 9-9. Rocky controlled the final four minutes of the first quarter, ending the period on a 10-1 run, capped off by a Tailyn Black three-pointer at the horn to give the Battlin' Bears a 19-10 lead.

Rocky's defense dictated the contest to open the second quarter, holding Montana Tech without a field goal for nearly five minutes to extend a 29-14 lead. Paige Wasson would sink an and-one layup before the half ended to keep a 15-point lead at halftime.

The Battlin' Bear momentum continued following the halftime break, jumping out to a 13-2 run over the opening five minutes of the half, extending a lead as large as 26 points, eventually leading to a 23-point lead entering the fourth quarter.

While the Orediggers had their best offensive stretch in the fourth quarter, the Battlin' Bear lead never fell below 13 points, defeating the No. 13-ranked Orediggers by 14 points at home.
