Sweeting’s Second-Half Brace Leads No. 22 Rocky Men’s Soccer to 3-1 Road Victory

KLAMATH FALLS, Ore.- No. 22-ranked Rocky Men's Soccer secured its third straight victory after sophomore Fynn Sweeting recorded a second-half brace to lead the Battlin' Bears past Oregon Tech, 3-1.

Winners of four of their last five matches, the Battlin' Bears outshot the Owls 18-9 and capitalized on a late man advantage to tack on an insurance goal, capping off a successful start to their weekend road trip.

How it Happened

Luke Tooze kept his scoring momentum going early, converting his first career penalty kick attempt in the 13th minute to give the Battlin' Bears a 1-0 lead. Just six minutes later, Oregon Tech responded with a goal of its own to knot the contest at 1-1, a score that held through halftime.

After starting the match on the bench, Fynn Sweeting took the pitch for the second half and made an immediate impact. Off a precise pass from Rory O'Donnell, Sweeting buried a shot into the bottom-left corner of the net to give the Battlin' Bears a 2-1 lead just 39 seconds into the frame. Sweeting added a late insurance goal in the 86th minute as Rocky secured its third straight victory to remain undefeated this season.
 
Notable Statistics

In just 57 minutes of action, Fynn Sweeting led all players with five shot attempts, placing three on target. Rocky's offensive pressure came from all angles, with eight different Battlin' Bears recording a shot on goal in the victory. In net, Biruk Paulos-Negatu tallied four saves in the winning effort.

Overall, the Battlin' Bears outshot the Owls 18-9, including a 10-5 advantage in shots on goal. Dominating possession in Oregon Tech territory, Rocky earned 10 corner kicks to OIT's one in the win.

Despite the defeat, Oregon Tech goalkeeper Noah Harwood turned in a strong performance with seven saves.
