Clarkson’s PK Keeps Rocky Women’s Soccer Unbeaten in 1-0 Victory Over Oregon Tech

KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. - Sophomore Gracie Clarkson buried a second-half penalty kick to lift Rocky Women's Soccer to a 1-0 road victory over Oregon Tech.

For the third straight contest, Rocky held its opponent to fewer than 10 shot attempts while outshooting them by double digits, as a dominant defensive backfield continues to anchor the unbeaten Battlin' Bears.

How it Happened
Despite going scoreless through the opening 45 minutes, Rocky dictated play early, holding the Owls to just a single shot attempt in the first half.

The Battlin' Bears broke through in the 62nd minute when a cross into the box from Molly Loughton drew a foul on Charlize Davis, earning a penalty kick. Though the Oregon Tech goalkeeper got a hand on Gracie Clarkson's attempt, the sophomore center back buried it for her third penalty goal in as many tries this season.

From there, Rocky's defense suffocated the Owl attack, allowing just three shot attempts over the final 45 minutes, including only two on frame, to seal the team's third shutout victory of the season.

Notable Statistics
Charlize Davis once again spearheaded the offense, tallying five shots with three on goal. Goalkeeper Matea Vernon turned away both shots she faced to record her third clean sheet of the season and the ninth of her career.

The Battlin' Bears outshot the Owls 15-4 overall, including a 6-2 advantage in shots on goal.

Oregon Tech goalkeeper Elle Hillar made five saves on six shots on goal, conceding only the penalty kick.
