Bilodeau’s Career Night Leads #11 Rocky Men’s Basketball Past Providence 77-61; Clinches Share of the Frontier Conference Regular Season Title

BILLINGS, Mont.- A career night from junior Jacob Bilodeau and a strong second half for Rocky led them to their 13th straight win and a senior night victory.

The win clinches at least a share of the Frontier Conference regular season title, as the Battlin' Bears hold a two-game lead over Carroll College with two games to play. A win on their road trip next weekend would secure an outright title and an automatic bid into the NAIA National Championship Tournament.

How It Happened

Rocky came out of the gates strong, opening up an early 9-0 run. Providence had their answer, responding with an 11-4 run to trim their deficit down to two. The Battlin' Bear offense struggled from deep in the first half, shooting just three-of-17 from three-point range. Offensive rebounding helped sustain their lead, snagging 11 first-half boards on the offensive end. Defensively, Rocky held the Argos to just two points over the final five minutes of the half to take a nine-point lead into the locker room.

The Battlin' Bears entered the second half fired up, jumping out to a 13-0 run and holding Providence scoreless for the first four minutes of the second half. After totaling 13 first-half points, junior Jacob Bilodeau recorded his 20th point of the night just over two minutes into the second half, helping extend a nine-point halftime lead into a 21-point advantage for the Battlin' Bears. The Argos would push back, at one point trimming their deficit down to 12, but Rocky would respond with a 13-4 run, pushing their lead back up to 21 points with less than three minutes to go, securing a dominant victory at home on senior night.
