Rocky Men’s Ski Wins Giant Slalom Regionals on Saturday

BRUNDAGE, Idaho.- A victory from Fredrik Straume led five top-ten finishes for the Rocky men as they won the Giant Slalom at the USCSA Western Regionals on Saturday.

Fredrik Straume leaned on the fastest run of the day to wrap up his competition, racing to a 56.94-second run on his second attempt to total a time of 1:57.84 to earn an individual victory. The victory marks his second consecutive regional victory individually, while also having a second-place finish in 2024. 

Jules Clerice followed in fourth place with a time of 2:00.18, while Nick Tibro finished fifth with a time of 2:00.66. William Mjelde (7th; 2:01.45) and Aniol Torres (10th; 2:03.16) rounded out the Battlin' Bears in the top ten overall. Ashton Fretwell completed the Rocky finishers with a 14th-place result, totaling a time of 2:05.50. 

The Rocky men totaled a time of 5:58.68, earning a 12-second victory over runner-up University of Utah.
