Rocky Ski Wins Completes Western Regional Sweep with Wins in the Slalom

BRUNDAGE, Idaho.- The Battlin' Bears completed a weekend sweep at the USCSA Western Region Championships, led by individual victories from Jules Clerice and Synne Kvinlog

Men's Slalom Results

Jules Clerice and Fredrik Straume went 1-2 in the slalom competition, with Clerice taking an individual victory with a time of 1:46.32, while Straume, the giant slalom victor, followed in second with a time of 1:46.90. 

Three more Battlin' Bears turned in top-ten efforts, featuring Aniol Torres (6th; 1:51.02), Zachary Bion (8th; 1:53.24), and William Mjelde (10th; 1:53.89), rounding out the Rocky finishers on Saturday. 

Rocky's men recorded a dominant victory, totaling a time of 5:24.24, nearly 30 seconds ahead of runner-up University of Colorado. 

Women's Slalom Results

Four Rocky women finished in the top five, led by an individual victory from Synne Kvinlog, who totaled a time of 1:47.95. Following her was Elisabeth Grimkelsrud (2nd; 1:48.40), Linnea Olesen (3rd; 1:50.42), and Jenny Sjotun (5th; 1:51.80). 

Rounding out Rocky's competitors were Klara Almqvist in 11th (1:55.16) and Sara Akerstrom in 14th (1:58.12). 

The Battlin' Bears cruised to a team victory, totaling a time of 5:26.77, finishing 17 seconds ahead of runner-ups Montana State.

The Battlin' Bears will now gear up for the USCSA National Championships, beginning on March 9th in Lake Placid, New York.
