#23 Rocky Women’s Basketball Uses Second Half Surge to Earn Dominant 95-67 Victory

MAYVILLE, N.D.- The Battlin' Bears shot over 60% from the field in the second-half, surging past the Comets 95-67 on the road.

The Rocky Women earned their fourth straight win and their fifth win in the last six games. Rocky's offense has been explosive as of late, averaging over 91 points per game over their past three, as they set a new season-high in points scored.

How It Happened

Both offenses had a strong start on Friday, as the Battlin' Bears surged ahead with an 8-2 run to take a 20-15 lead after five minutes of game time. Mayville State responded with an 11-3 run to take a three-point advantage before a layup from Lexy Burnham cut Rocky's deficit to one point entering the second quarter.

Paige Wasson came out firing in the second quarter, scoring ten points over the first four minutes of the second quarter to lead the Battlin' Bears to an eight-point lead. Rocky's offense would go into a lull to end the first half, being held to just one made field goal over the final six minutes, allowing Mayville State to trim their deficit to just one point entering halftime.

The Battlin' Bear defense came out tough as nails in the second half, holding the Comets scoreless over the first four minutes of the half. Brenna Linse and Paige Wasson combined for Rocky's first 16 points of the half. Wasson would total 15 points in the third quarter alone, leading Rocky to outscore Mayville 30-9, giving them a substantial 22-point lead heading into the fourth quarter.

After the Comets would splash a three to open the quarter, six different Battlin' Bears would contribute to a 13-3 run, solidifying Rocky's road victory.
