Newcomers Lead Battlin’ Bears to a 2-2 Draw Against Morningside

SIOUX CITY, Iowa- Freshman Emma Clark and sophomore transfer Molly Loughton each netted their first goals in Battlin' Bear uniforms as Rocky Women's Soccer fought to a 2-2 draw against Morningside.

Rocky's offense outshot the Mustangs 20–11 overall. All four goals came in an action-packed opening half before both defenses locked down to deliver a scoreless second 45 minutes.

How it Happened
Charlize Davis initiated the opening attack with a push down the corner before finding Mia Daskalovska, who made the extra pass to Emma Clark. The freshman buried her first collegiate goal to give the Battlin' Bears a 1-0 advantage in the 9th minute.

Morningside answered with back-to-back goals in the 22nd and 33rd minutes, turning Rocky's early lead into a 2-1 deficit. Molly Loughton provided the equalizer in the final two minutes of the half, using a quick side-step to create space before driving a low strike past the Mustang goalkeeper to even the match at 2-2.

After dominating the opening period with a 14-4 edge in shot attempts, Rocky faced a tighter second half, with Morningside holding a narrow 7-6 advantage in shots. Neither side could break through down the stretch, sealing Rocky's second draw of the season.

Notable Statistics
Overall, the Battlin' Bears outshot Morningside 20-11, including a 10-6 advantage in shots on goal. Molly Loughton and Emma Clark paced the attack with five shots apiece, while Charlize Davis added four. Goalkeeper Matea Vernon recorded four saves in the draw.
