Rocky Volleyball Defeated in Five-Set Thriller Against MSU Billings

BILLINGS, Mont.- Rocky Volleyball was unable to close out MSU Billings at home, ultimately falling in a hard-fought five-set battle.

How it Happened
Attack errors proved decisive in the opening frame. Rocky played a crisp set with just two attack errors, while the Yellowjackets committed 11, giving the Battlin' Bears the runway to hit .200 and secure a 25-20 victory.

The second set stayed tight down the stretch before a Yellowjacket kill tied the frame at 21-21. Seizing momentum off an MSUB service error, the Battlin' Bears rattled off four consecutive points to claim the second set, 25-21.

MSU Billings responded forcefully after the break, posting hitting percentages of .406 and .321 in the third and fourth sets to erase Rocky's two-set lead and force a decisive fifth frame.

Neither side led by more than three points in a dramatic final set. Kills from Olivia Fauth and Kaitlyn Wood pushed Rocky's lead to three, but the Yellowjackets answered to tie the score at 14-14. Fauth delivered another clutch kill to set up match point for Rocky at 17-16, but MSU Billings countered with three straight points to claim the set, 19-17, and take the match.

Notable Statistics
Rachel Whyte posted a career-high 14 kills while hitting an efficient .407, and Olivia Fauth added 12 kills. Setters Rylee McMillan (27 assists, 10 digs) and Kristyn Mentink (23 assists, 13 digs) both logged double-doubles, while libero Zoey Albert anchored the defense with a team-high 28 digs.

MSUB outhit Rocky .174 to .135, compiling a 63-57 edge in total kills.

Allie Dorman paced MSU Billings with a match-high 20 kills alongside 21 digs.
