WHITEFISH, Mont., August 5, 2019 – Rocky Mountain College earned a No. 2 ranking in the Frontier Conference Volleyball Preseason Coaches' Poll. The Battlin' Bears received 31 points and three first place votes.
Rocky finished behind University of Providence who received 34 points and four first place votes. The Argos defeated the Battlin' Bears, the regular season champion, in the 2018 Frontier Conference Championship. The Battlin' Bears still advanced to the NAIA tournament where they ended their season with a loss to Southern Oregon in championship bracket play.
Rocky went 30-6 last season and finished ranked No. 13 in the 2018 NAIA Women's Volleyball Coaches' Postseason Top 25 poll.
The Battlin' Bears will return several key starters this season including second team all-conference outside hitter Daniella Russell and first team all-conference Natalie Hilderman who was named the 2018 Frontier Conference Setter of the Year.
The 2019 season will be the first for head volleyball coach Yang Yang who took over the program in the spring after Laurie Kelly's retirement.
The Battlin' Bears will begin the 2019 season on Aug. 14 against University of Saint Francis in Fullerton, California as part of the 2019 Summer Slam Tournament.
