Rocky Men’s Basketball Defeats Dakota State 81-71 Behind Owens’ 24 Point Performance

DICKINSON, N.D. Nov. 25, 2022- Rocky Men's Basketball began the Sam Milanovic Classic with an 81-71 victory over Dakota State Friday evening. 

The Battlin' Bears went into the half with a 14 point lead 40-26, led by 17 first half points from Jesse Owens. Dakota State found their offensive rhythm in the second half as they outscored Rocky 45-41, but were unable to overcome the deficit. 

Jesse Owens led the Battlin' Bears with a career-high 24 points and two steals, Nick Hart scored 10 points and grabbed 12 rebounds, and Kael Robinson scored six points while dishing a career high seven assists. The Battlin' Bears shot 46.3% from the field (31-67) and 36.4% from three point range (8-22).

Dakota State was led by 18 points from Deshawun Kelly off the bench, along with 10 points and 14 rebounds from Ethan Damerum. 

The Battlin' Bears (5-1) will take on Dickinson State Saturday evening to wrap up the Sam Milanovic Classic. Tip off will be at 7:00pm (MT).
