Rocky Men’s Basketball Falls to Dickinson State 65-74

DICKINSON, N.D. Nov. 25, 2022- A shorthanded Rocky Men's Basketball team fell to Dickinson State 65-74 to finish the Sam Milanovic Classic 1-1. 

The first half saw back and forth action, which saw Dickinson State took a six point lead into halftime after back to back threes from Dickinson State to close the half. The Battlin' Bears were unable to get over the hump as the Blue Hawks were able to fend off each Rocky run to hold on the lead throughout the second half. 

Dickinson State dominated the rebounding battle, taking advantage of the absence of Beau Santistevan and Maxim Stephens for the Battlin' Bears, as the Blue Hawks grabbed nine offensive rebounds and won the rebounding battle 47-33. 

The Battlin' Bears were led by Kael Robinson who tallied 17 points, six rebounds, and two steals. Jesse Owens tallied 15 points and Kace Kitchel added six rebounds, three blocks and three steals.

The Blue Hawks were led by 14 points and seven rebounds from Gus Wright, along with 13 points and six rebounds from John Evans. 

The Battlin' Bears (5-2) begin Frontier Conference play on Thursday, December 1st in Butte against 18th ranked Montana Tech in Butte.
