Efficient Shooting Propels Rocky Women’s Basketball to an 81-42 Victory Over Dickinson State

DICKINSON, N.D. Nov. 25, 2022- Rocky Women's Basketball took control in the second half and cruised to a 81-42 victory in the first of two games against Dickinson State this weekend. 

Ky Buell and Morgan Baird paced the offense early, each scoring six points a piece in the first quarter to give the Battlin' Bears a 17-15 lead at the end of the first quarter. The Rocky defense took over in the second quarter, holding the Blue Hawks to only six points, giving the Battlin' Bears a 35-21 lead going into halftime.

It was all Rocky in the second half, cruising to a 41 point victory in the first of their two matchups against Dickinson State this weekend. The Battlin' Bears finished with five players scoring double figures on the day. Dominique Stephens was the leading scorer with 18 on 8-9 shooting from the field, adding on eight rebounds and two blocks. Morgan Baird added 14 points on 7-8 shooting from the field, while Kloie Thatcher added 11 points, six assists, three blocks, and two steals in the victory. 

Rocky shot an efficient 54% from the field and 38.5% from three point range, while forcing 22 Blue Hawk turnovers. 

Dickinson State was led by 12 points from Heather Labree and nine points from Kayden Steele off the bench. 

The Battlin' Bears (3-3) will take on Dickinson State again on Saturday at 3pm (MT).
