No. 25 Rocky Women’s Basketball Falls in Double Overtime to No. 22 Lewis-Clark State College 73-80

LEWISTON, Idaho. Nov. 5, 2022- No. 25 ranked Rocky Women's Basketball falls to No. 22 Lewis-Clark State College in double overtime 73-80 in Lewiston. 

After trailing 17-25 at halftime, the Battlin' Bears rode a 26 point third quarter to take a two point lead going into the fourth quarter. A jumper by Sara Muehlhausen gave the Warriors the lead with 44 seconds left in the game, but Mackenzie Dethman put a layup in with 20 seconds left to tie things up. A costly foul by Rocky gave the Warriors a chance to clinch things with a free throw with only a second remaining, but Lewis-Clark missed both free throws to send things to overtime. 

The Warriors got out to a four point lead with 1:38 remaining in the first overtime, but a back to back buckets by Morgan Baird tied things up for Rocky, sending things into double overtime.

A three pointer by Callie Stevens and good free throw shooting from the Warriors allowed them to pull away in the second overtime however, winning by seven.

The Battlin' Bears were led by 22 points, three rebounds, five threes, and two steals from Kloie Thatcher and Morgan Baird finished with 22 points, six rebounds, a steal, and a block. Mackenzie Dethman also finished with 11 points and 12 rebounds.

The Warriors were led by Callie Stevens' 28 points, eight rebounds and two steals. Maddie Holm also had 11 points, 14 rebounds, and four blocks. 

The Battlin' Bears (1-2) will head to California next weekend to take on San Diego Christian College on Friday and No. 19 ranked Vanguard University on Saturday.
