Rocky Women’s Basketball Starts Conference Play With a 59-42 Victory Over Tech

BUTTE, Mont. Dec. 1, 2022- Rocky Women's Basketball started their conference schedule off with a victory, defeating Montana Tech 59-42 in Butte Thursday evening. 

A back and forth game throughout, the difference in the game was Rocky's 22 point third quarter, led by Morgan Baird scoring six of her 13 points off the bench in the quarter. 

The Battlin' Bears forced 17 turnovers in the game, while hitting nine threes and grabbing 10 offensive rebounds. Montana Tech struggled from three point range, only shooting 10.5 % (2-19) from downtown.

Rocky was led by 14 points, four rebounds, three assists, and three steals from Gracee Lekvold, Morgan Baird dropped 13 points and six rebounds off the bench, and Kloie Thatcher finished with 11 points, five rebounds, and four assists. 

Montana Tech was led by 13 points, five rebounds and two steals from Aubrie Rademacher, along with seven points and two steals from Madison Allen. 

The Battlin' Bears (5-3, 1-0 conf.) will host University of Providence in the Fortin Education Center on Saturday, tipping off at 2:00pm.
