Rocky Men’s Basketball Falls to Montana Western 76-60

The Battlin' Bears drop their second consecutive conference game.

BILLINGS, Mont. Jan. 12, 2022- The Battlin' Bears were unable to keep up with the Bulldogs in the second half, falling to Montana Western 76-60 in Dillon Thursday evening. 

A back and forth game in the first half came out with a six point Bulldog lead, led by seven points from Brenton Woods. 

Things got away from Rocky early in the second half, as Montana Western opened the second half on an 18-4 run, extending to a lead as large as 23 as they cruised to a 16 point victory. 

"We had another poor shooting night in the first half." Coach Bill Dreikosen said. We struggled shooting from the field and from the free throw line most of the night. We are going to need to get our confidence back and be ready for Saturday versus Providence. I believe this group can do that."

The Battlin' Bears were led by 11 points (4-4 FG) from Brett Clark off the bench, 10 points and nine rebounds from Kace Kitchel, and seven points, four rebounds, and five steals from Nick Hart. 

The Bulldogs were led by 17 points and five three-pointers from Michael Haverfield and eight points and eight assists from Brenton Woods. 

The Battlin' Bears (10-7, 2-3 conf.) will head to Great Falls to take on University of Providence Saturday afternoon.
