No. 20 Rocky Women’s Basketball Runs Past MSU-Northern 76-41

Battlin' Bears protect home court behind an explosive first half.

BILLINGS, Mont.,- No. 20 ranked Rocky Women's Basketball left no doubts in the Fortin Education Center Saturday afternoon, cruising to a 76-41 victory over the Skylights.

The Skylights grabbed the first basket of the game, but that 2-0 lead would be the only lead they would see the rest of the game, as the Battlin' Bears would go on a 16-6 run for the rest of the quarter to take a 16-8 lead into the second quarter.

The second quarter would belong to Kloie Thatcher, as she scored 13 of her 18 total points in the quarter. The Rocky defense would force seven Skylight turnovers and outscore Northern 21-4 in the quarter.

The third quarter was more of the same, as the Battlin' Bears would hold the Skylights to single digits for the third straight quarter and pulled away to a 40-point lead headed into the fourth quarter.

The Battlin' Bears were led by 18 points, four rebounds, and four steals from Kloie Thatcher, 12 points, five assists, and two steals from Tynesha Parnell, and nine points and six steals from Ky Buell

The Skylights were led by 12 points from Briaunna McCullough and nine points and three steals from Rachel Van Blaricom.

The Battlin' Bears (15-5, 7-1 conf.) will head to Helena to take on No. 18 Carroll College. After Carroll's win over Montana Tech, both teams will enter Thursday's game tied for first place in the Frontier Conference standings with 7-1 records in conference.
