No. 22 Rocky Women’s Basketball Falls to No. 11 Fighting Saints 65-47

The Fighting Saints even the season series with one game remaining between the two teams.

BILLINGS, Mont.- No. 22 ranked Rocky Women's Basketball dropped their second conference game of the season, losing to No. 11 ranked Carroll College 65-47 Thursday evening. 

After trailing 15-9 heading into the second quarter, the Battlin' Bears went scoreless for over six minutes of game time in the second quarter, grabbing their first field goal with only 3:45 remaining, as Carroll outscored Rocky 11-4 in the quarter. 

An ice cold first half from the Battlin' Bears saw them score only 13 points on only 3-19 (15.7%) shooting from the field. While Rocky held Carroll to only 35% from the field in the first half, they still trailed 26-13 at the break.

Ky Buell helped the Battlin' Bears find offensive momentum in the third quarter, scoring eight of her 12 points to lead Rocky's 19 point quarter. Unfortunately for Rocky, the Fighting Saints also found their offensive rhythm in the third quarter, as they outscored the Battlin' Bears 21-19 to take a 15 point lead into the fourth quarter. 

Seven points from Jamie Pickens in the final quarter propelled the No. 11 ranked Saints to an 18 point victory, outscoring Rocky in each quarter and taking an outright lead in the Frontier Conference standings. 

The Battlin' Bears were led by 12 points and three assists by Ky Buell, while Kloie Thatcher finished with eight points and six rebounds. Rocky turned the ball over 17 times, with Carroll capitalizing with 17 points off turnovers. 

The Saints were led by 24 points, 10 rebounds, and five steals from Jamie Pickens, while Sienna Swannack added 10 points, four rebounds, and three assists. The Saints grabbed 10 offensive rebounds, leading to 12 second chance points. 

The Battlin' Bears (15-6, 7-2 conf.) head into another top-25 matchup Saturday, as they host No. 15 ranked Montana Western in the Fortin Education Center.
