Jackson Wilson Breaks His Own School Record to Highlight Rocky Cross Country’s Performance at the Yellowjacket/Battlin’ Bear Invite

BILLINGS, Mont.- Rocky Cross Country placed sixth overall in the men's 8k and fifth overall in the women's 5k behind numerous personal bests and an impressive individual victory from Jackson Wilson

All seven competing Rocky women ran personal bests in the 6k on Friday. The Battlin' Bears were led by sophomore Jayden Woodland, who finished 11th overall with a personal best 22:36.6. Chloe Bryntesen (17th overall, 23:15.4), Kallyn Wilkins (20th overall, 23:20.3), and Taylen Stinson (22nd overall, 23:22.4) followed along running inside the top-25 overall. Grace Timm rounded out the scorers, finishing 34th overall (23:55.3). 

The Battlin' Bears finished 5th overall with a team score of 102, falling just a point behind Carroll College, the only competing NAIA school finishing in front of Rocky. University of Mary finished with the team and individual victories for the day. 

The Battlin' Bears took a Rimrock Rivalry victory, defeating MSU Billings by 128 team points. 

The Rocky men were led by two top-four individual performances, as senior Jackson Wilson broke away in the final stretch and set a new school record, finishing in first place with a time of 24:17.1. Corbyn Svec also ran a new personal best, crossing the line fourth overall with a time of 24:56.4, becoming just the eighth Battlin' Bear ever to run sub-25 minutes in the 8k. Freshman Matthew Conrad was the next Battlin' Bear to cross the line, finishing 35th overall with a time of 26:13.5. Justin Glass (38th overall, 26:18.9) and Joseph Orndorff (45th overall, 27:09.2) rounded out the Rocky scorers. 

The Rocky men finished sixth overall with a team score of 123 and also earned a Rimrock Rivalry victory, defeating MSU Billings by 95 team points. 

The Battlin' Bears will head to Lewiston, Idaho to compete in the LC State Invitational next Saturday, October 14th.
