BILLINGS, Mont.- Rocky Cross Country will look to ride their momentum from a strong first meet into a large field of competition in Missoula Friday evening. 

The women's 5k race will be at 6:00 p.m. (MT) on Friday evening, followed by the men's 8k at 6:45 p.m. (MT).

After the originally scheduled Tony Banovich Invitational in Butte was canceled due to poor air quality, the race schedule quickly pivoted to a course on Riverfront Park in Billings. 

The Rocky women competed in a 5k race and finished second overall. Kallyn Wilkins (2nd; 19:18.45) and Grace Timm (4th; 19:21.76) turned in top-five individual performances, with Hannah Geisen following in ninth place (19:46.64). 

The Battlin' Bear men were victorious in their first meet of the season, led by a commanding individual win by junior Corbyn Svec, earning Svec conference runner of the week honors on Monday. Justin Glass and Zachary Zwiesler followed in second and third to sweep the top three places for Rocky. More good things came behind the top three finishers, as Matthew Conrad and a trio of freshmen making their collegiate debuts in Caleb Tomac, Ashtyn Rask, and John Spinti, all turned in top-10 finishes.
