DICKINSON, N.D.-  The Battlin' Bears earned a 108-107 victory over Dickinson State after a last-second jump shot from Jesse Owens

The first half was an entertaining, back-and-forth game that saw neither team extend a lead larger than five. Jesse Owens was fouled just before the buzzer sounded, hitting both of his free throw attempts to bring the halftime score to a 47-45 Dickinson State lead. Kael Robinson led the offense in the first half with 18 points.

After Dickinson's Jaiden Wright got a layup to fall to tie the game at 69-69 with 13:06 remaining, the Battlin' Bears rattled off a 9-0 run, led by back-to-back buckets from Kael Robinson and capped by a three-pointer by Luca Brooks to give Rocky the largest lead by either side. The Blue Hawks responded quickly, answering with a 7-0 run of their own to force a Battlin' Bear timeout.

Kael Robinson hit a free throw attempt to extend Rocky's lead to five with only 1:13 remaining. After a forced turnover, the Blue Hawks hit a three-pointer to cut the deficit down to two points with only 40 seconds on the clock. On the following possession, Jesse Owens drove to the basket and drew a foul, but a technical foul allowed Dickinson State to match his two made free throws, keeping the Rocky lead at two. Dickinson State's Kose Egbule was fouled on the following Blue Hawk possession, where he hit one of his two free throws. A.J. Wilson grabbed the rebound off of the second missed free throw and earned a trip to the free throw line, where he also hit one of two free throws. Kose Egbule, the Blue Hawk's leading scorer entering this game, found his way to the basket and got a layup to fall before regulation expired to push the game out to overtime.

A.J. Wilson started the overtime period off hot, hitting a three after a steal by Jesse Owens to give the Battlin' Bears an early lead in the period. Dickinson State would respond with back-to-back baskets, being the first team to hit 100 points as they led 100-99 with 3:07 left in overtime. Two made free throws from Kose Egbule gave the Blue Hawks a four-point lead inside two minutes. Cade Tyson hit a crucial three-pointer on the following possession to keep the deficit down to one point. Kose Egbule continued to keep Dickinson rolling, hitting two free throws to give his team a three-point lead. After a Blue Hawk turnover, A.J. Wilson made a pivotal offensive rebound and put back that cut the Dickinson State lead to one. Wilson would foul after an inbounds pass, which led to two missed free throws by the Blue Hawks.

Jesse Owens would bring the ball down on the game-deciding possession, as he would get past his initial defender before putting up a jump shot that made three bounces off the rim and found the net with 1.2 seconds remaining in the game. Kael Robinson grabbed a steal on the inbounds pass and the Battlin' Bears escaped with a 108-107 victory.

Jesse Owens led the way with a career-high 29 points, along with seven rebounds, five assists, and a perfect 6-6 from the free throw line.
