Game Recap: Women's Basketball | | Brandon Stinson | Sports Information & Media Coordinator

No. 22-Ranked Rocky Women’s Basketball Falls to No. 15-Ranked Montana Western 68-45

The Battlin' Bears struggle from the field as they drop their final two regular season games against top-25 opponents.

DILLON, Mont.- The Battlin' Bears had their lowest offensive output of the season as they fell to Montana Western 68-45 on Saturday afternoon in Dillon.

Turnovers hurt Rocky in the first half, giving the ball away nine times in the first two quarters. Coupled with the Battlin' Bears shooting 24% (6-25) from the field and 10% (1-10) from three point land, the Battlin' Bears trailed by 14 points heading into the halftime break.

More of the same came out of the halftime break, as the Rocky women scored only 10 points in the third quarter as the Montana Western Bulldogs extended their lead into the final quarter.

While the offense began to click for the Battlin' Bears in the fourth quarter, it was too little too late, as they dropped their final game of the regular season.

The Battlin' Bears were led by 17 points and three rebounds from Kloie Thatcher and 10 points and five rebounds from Dominique Stephens. The Battlin' Bears shot 30.9% (17-55) from the field in the game and 22.2% (4-18) from three point range.

The Bulldogs were led by 23 points, four rebounds, and three steals from Brynley Fitzgerald, while Shainy Mack added 10 points and three rebounds.

The Battlin' Bears (18-9, 10-5 conf.) will enter the Frontier Conference Tournament as the third seed and will take on MSU-Northern on Sunday, February 26th in Great Falls.
